Problem

“How can I be sure that I am donating to a legitimate organisation?”

Children’s Education Foundation (CEF)

CEF is a non-profit based in central Vietnam that strives to break the cycle of poverty by providing sponsorship to girls from impoverished or marginalized families, so that they can complete schooling or receive further training. They rely solely on donors to cover the children’s schooling fees as well as volunteers to conduct workshops.

Discover how to stand out

Competitor analysis of 6 NGOs and survey results showed that site visitors focused on appearance and then scanned for specific content to determine integrity and transparency.

Prioritize objectives by using personas as guides

Shared a research report and recommendations with the client. Guided by the user personas we defined what type of content users expect and agreed on a responsive design to cater to mobile users.

Restructure and rebuild

Restructured and prioritized content that gave them more credibility and a call to action button. Rebuilt the sitemap to accommodate new content. Made iterations of wireframes to align with client on final look.

Validate usability

Brand consistency and having the right content for users to connect with has improved the client’s credibility. 60% of users who saw the new design were interested in donating funds or volunteering their time.

More work ahead

A limited budget meant that the project has not yet been implemented. With more time to work on the design, we came up with more assets that can be incorporated to communicate transparency such as articles, video footage and revamped logo to back up credibility.

Learnings & challenges

Primary challenge was to convince the client to adopt a user-centered process and design. Working in a non-agile environment meant a lot of waiting time between steps.

Working on a strict budget meant focusing more on the objectives and not the deliverables.
